This is an epoch of transformations, revolutions, novelties and advancements. We are changing perhaps more dynamically than ever before in the history. We have been making, breaking and reshaping borders-be it in science, technology, economics, politics, religion, arts or sports. With a plethora of instances down the lane, say from striking down section 377 which not only prohibited a form of intimate and personal choices of many but also encoded a stereotypical mentality, to addition of more hues of trans genders into the social canvas, we are en route a better world via shattering fetters and tackling prejudices. Better in the sense that albeit differences and disagreements, progress and welfare is the chief harmonizer ( though we are aware of many covetous eyes and avaricious hands) of the 1.37 billion people and wide variety of flaura and fauna in this incredible land with 22 officially recognized languages; hundreds of dialects; lot many religions, castes and sub-castes; agro-climatic conditions from sub zero Himalayas to baking deserts of Thar.
Still and all, miles yet to go!!!
Gender inequalities, violence against minorities, ruthless exploitation of natural resources, remnants of patriarchy and misogyny, discrimination on pointless grounds, baffled approaches to transgenders and LGBTQ , political and administrative ploys, absurdities etc… continue to haunt the 21st Century. It is lugubrious that despite humongous studies and reports on surmounting these inhibitors of holistic progress, the jeopardy remain! The ultimate cause, consequence and remedy resonates around none but you, me and us- our intellect, perspectives , wisdom and sense of responsibility.
Many a time, the ceiling is right at our disposal and all it takes is a touch to break; for sure the stigma will be stained, fetters broken , prejudices tackled and beauty sculptured. Defending peace and harmony and ensuring equality ayond the realms of caste, creed, ethnicity and gender is as important as FDI, superpower status or international relations I believe.
In the rendezvous of a nation’s victory, there is room for all inmates. Scintillation comes from comprehensive contributions – when everyone prefer love and peace to hate and violence, embrace only sustainable development, ensure equal opportunities and status right from home (be it to a girl crazy about superheroes or boy who loves pink) to workspaces and public, abstain from corruption, realize that homosexuality is okay ; not just in paper but in productive practice. Enhanced visions of each citizen coupled with sophisticated missions from judiciary, bureaucrats and politicians will take us along beautiful roads to exquisite destinations.
The famous French philosopher Pierre de Chardin said, ‘someday after mastering the winds, waves, tides and gravity, we shall harness for God the energies of love, and then for a second time in the history of the world, man will have discovered fire’. This is the fire we are in much need of – a fire that can can shatter the numbing fetters and disseminate the blaze of love, hope, rationality and intellect.
